The Gulf of Talamone
You can enrich your summer holiday at Residence Park Solemaremma with a visit to the Gulf of Talamone.
Talamone is a small fortified fishermen’s village characterized by narrow alleys and old stone houses above which the Rocca Aldobrandesca stands out and dominates the small port. It is located south of the Uccellina Mountains, overlooking the Argentario Gulf.
The beaches of Talamone
The beach on the northern coast of Talamone has rocky seabeds, while along the southern coast it is possible to find large beaches where you can relax in peace and quiet. A perfect destination for windsurfing and kitesurfing lovers.
Talamone: from the Greek hero to Garibaldi
According to legend, the name of this village derives from the Greek hero Telamon, who was buried right under the Rocca. Beyond the legend, the village surely boasts very ancient origins. Some artifacts seem to bear witness to settlements as early as the Neolithic, although Etruscan and Roman settlements can be actually proved.
In 1860 Garibaldi stayed in this town for the recruitment of the Expedition of the Thousand which led to the unification of Italy.
